Valentine’s Day: 5 “Classic” Projects

I have been brainstorming some new Valentine’s Day projects over here, and it made me nostalgic for some of the Valentine’s Day “Classics.” I wanted to round up all of my favorite tutorials and DIY projects in one quick post.  Who knows?  Maybe you’ll spot something you missed back in 2006.  (Ok, not all of them are that old.)

I struggle a bit with Valentine’s Day project-making.  In our house, deciding NOT to make the heart-shaped glitter banner is probably the better gift.  You know what I mean?  Making glitter-covered, ruffled paper, doily-shaped projects is really all about me. So I make the chocolate mousse and a nice dinner for him and have stopped pretending that anything assembled with thread, felt, and/or a glue stick is anything more than my entertainment for the afternoon.  (But what great entertainment it is!)

Friday, so we meet again. I am up to my ears in projects that are almost-finished-but-not-quite.  I have vowed to plow through all of them today.  I will not rest until they are done! (Sorry, if this is getting melodramatic, but I’m trying to psych myself up here.)

I’m also hoping to squeeze in some cleaning (see above re: almost finished projects = little bits of thread and sparkles and random scraps of fabric scattered everywhere).  Do you think vacuuming counts as a Valentine’s Day present?

Anyway, back to the grindstone for me.  I still have some chocolate mousse to make.  (Hmm… I wonder if we can just eat that for dinner.)

Don’t forget that there are some Valentine’s Day madlibs if your sweetheart is a little bit silly.  (They are completely appropriate for sweet kids, too.)  Hope you have a great weekend whether you’re celebrating or not.  See you next week!  I’ll be back with some alphabetic inspiration – we’re getting down to the end now (T, U, V, W, and X).
