Spring Market Recap: The End!

Market_end1

It is finally time to wrap up the last of the Spring Market coverage.  I think there are some goodies here that were worth the wait.  Let’s start out with Riley Blake Designs.  They are a relatively new company, but they came back this time with a much larger booth and lots of new designs.

Market_end9

Riley Blake picked up several scrapbook licensees including My Mind’s Eye and October Afternoon.  It was fun to see some of these great prints on fabric.

Market_end4

Check out the cute vintage kitchen/farm props (above).  I wonder where they found that old scale.

Market_end2

And how cute is this cap from Doohickey Designs?  I love the owls.

Market_end5

This area (above) is by designer Emily Taylor.  It was a little hard not to drool on that chocolate cake.

Market_end3

I thought this cabinet was adorable.  I really wanted to peek inside, but I didn’t.  If you want to see more Riley Blake fabrics, be sure to check out this post.

Next up, we’ll head over to a few more Moda booths.  They had a cute circus-themed set up.

Market_end7

I don’t think I will ever get sick of garlands and twinkle lights.

Market_end6

Since it is Spring Quilt Market, it seems appropriate to finish with some quilt photos.  First up is the  Thimble Blossoms booth (by Moda designer Camille Roskelley).  She has a more traditional feel, but with a fresh, contemporary palette.

Market_end8

I thought this quilt at Benartex was eye-catching.

Market_end10

And last, but certainly not least, is Lizzy House.  I headed over to Andover Fabrics to get a picture of her Castle Peeps quilt (which is a free download on her web-site).  I love this collection.  There is something about it that reminds me of my childhood.  It’s just a bonus that the little villagers are awesome.

Market_end11

Well, that’s all I’ve got.  If you’re hungry for more, don’t miss Kim’s posts at True Up.  She always has super detailed, behind-the-scenes info and great pictures.  I’ll be back the rest of the week with cupcakes and crafts.

Spring Market Recap: Patterns

Market_patterns5

Happy Friday, everyone!  I am rounding out the week with some cute new patterns from the Spring Market show.  It turns out, I probably have one more market post left, and then it will be back to the usual fair around here.  There are lots of new crafty projects in the works, so I hope you’ll stick around.

We’ll start off with Oliver + SLiesl was not only showcasing some new patterns, but she also was sharing swatches from her debut fabric collection, City Weekend, with Moda.

I love that little orange number in the top right hand corner.

Market_patterns6

I have always admired how fresh and clean the Oliver + S booth looks.  The clothes really pop against that soothing blue.

Market_patterns3

This yellow and blue combination makes me happy.  I think it’s so clever how the notched pocket mirrors the notch in the yoke.

Market_patterns4

Next up is Penguin & Fish.  I did not get a chance to meet Alyssa, but I thought her embroidery patterns and kits were adorable.  She sells a whole bunch of other stuff over on etsy including sketchbooks, plush, and more.  This hedgehog was my favorite.

Market_patterns7

Check out the cute alligator pillow (below).

Market_patterns8

Next, I headed over to another pattern company, Izzy & Ivy Designs.  I really liked the gathers on this sundress (below).

Market_patterns2

The booth was filled to the brim.

Market_patterns1

A few rows over, I met Amy of Kati Cupcake.  (See below.)  I loved her blue frames.

Market_patterns10

And last, but not least, is The Swedish Fish.  If they have a web-site, I couldn’t find it.  Their booth was set up like a boutique complete with chandelier.  And they hand out actual candy swedish fish — so it doesn’t get much better than that.  ;-)

Market_patterns9

I know I didn’t get everyone (there were just too many!), so I apologize to anyone I missed.

Next up: Riley Blake, a little bit of Moda, and some odds and ends.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Spring Market Recap: Seven Islands

Market_japan4

Whew!  Today is my husband’s birthday so I have been up to my elbows in flour and chocolate since this morning.  Two dozen cupcakes and a big batch of chocolate mousse later, I’m ready for a little fabric break.

These pictures are all from the Seven Islands Fabric booth.  As much as I love Japanese fabric, I have to confess – I have a hard time keeping the different companies straight since Seven Islands distributes for several of the big names (Kokka, Echino, Sunfelt, Cosmo, etc.).  Kim over at True Up seems to be in the know on this stuff, so if you want to see more (and know what everything is called) — I would head over there next.

Market_japan1

I am an absolute sucker for these felt kits by Sunfelt.   I purchased a bunch last year, and they were so much fun to stitch up.  There is something a little bit genius about the way these kits are prepared.  Everything is already cut to size, so if you make one – they really do turn out just as cute as the sample.  (Here’s my cookie set.)  I’m fairly certain that Kelly from Superbuzzy grabbed a bunch of these for her store.  Do you remember the wind-up toys they had last year?  Well, they are back with more — this time with a cute fairytale theme.  (See below.)  I love Pinocchio!

Market_japan2

Etsuko Furuya (of Echino) had a new line with a cute transportation theme — sunglasses, planes, bicycles, and cameras.  There is a great preview of all of the fabrics here at the Superbuzzy blog.

Market_japan6

I think my favorite of her new fabrics is the green eyeglass shirt hanging in the back.  I can just see some cute, first grade hipster wearing this.

Market_japan5

Heather Ross’ new line, Far Far Away 2, was represented with some adorable bags.  I had really hoped that I might get a chance to meet Heather and thank her for designing the awesome purple unicorn shoes, but alas – it did not happen.  Next time, maybe.

Market_japan8

Last but not least is this new collection (I think it’s by Kiyohara) with these great horse-drawn carriages mixed in with trees, foliage, lace, and a few butterflies.

Market_japan3

This one is going on my “must find” list for sure.

Market_japan7

Well, this week is winding down, but there’s more…  Are you hanging in there for the big finish?

Spring Market Recap: Bari J. and Anna Griffin

Market_wind2

Do you remember this cute little puppy?  I shared a picture in my preview post.  These pictures are of Bari’s new line, Country Lane, which feels just right for picnics and sundresses.  The navy blue really makes the other colors pop.

Here’s another shot of her area.  This time you can see the wall hanging in the back along with some of her pillows and new patterns.  Bari was the first person I recognized when I showed up at Market, and you really can’t get a warmer welcome than from Bari.  It’s such a bonus when these designers are not just talented, but incredibly kind and encouraging too.  ;-)

Market_wind3

Right next door was Anna Griffin’s Alice in Wonderland booth.  I believe these fabrics are all from her new collection, Cecile.

Market_wind6

The table was stacked with china, paper butterflies, and yummy looking desserts.

Market_wind5

This was one of the prize-winning booths, and when you get up close, you can really see why.  Look at how the White Rabbit is modeling the fabric (below).

Market_wind4

Next up: Pat Bravo, Oliver + S, Riley Blake, and more!

Spring Market Recap: Tina Givens

Market_tina5

Are you ready for one more week of Spring Market photos?  I am going to try to smoosh everyone in by Friday.  (My apologies to anyone who is getting bored!)  However, I have saved some of my favorites for last so I can’t stop yet.

Next up is Tina Givens.  Her booth was packed with tiny details — little birdhouses made of moss, embroidered bunnies, and lots of practical objects that easily could have doubled as art.  I thought her styling was so clever.  Check out that cute button down shirt (up top) paired with a frilly tutu skirt.

Market_tina6

There is something about this green bag with the owl fabric that really grabbed me.  I had to go in for the close-up shot, too.

Market_tina7

Every shelf was packed with goodies.

Market_tina3

Of course, I fell in love with this embroidered bunny.

Market_tina2

And check out this cute mobile.  It looks like she took fabric scraps and wrapped them around embroidery hoops.  I think that would be great in a baby’s room.

Market_tina4

More soon!
