Taking a Break

Taking A Break

I cannot believe how much time has passed since my last post!

We have been battling a pretty nasty cold — the kind that really knocks you flat. That would have been fine, but it also happened to be right before a major deadline.  (My next fabric collection!)

I wanted to stop in and say hi, but I have been in a fabric designing haze. I always think it would be cool to document this process better — but the truth is, fabric design is not very photogenic. (At least, not the way I do it.) It really reminds me of cramming for finals. Wearing the same clothes a few days in a row. Very little hair brushing. Paper everywhere.

I always think I am going to do a better job with the printing and shipping process, and then for some reason, I am racing to UPS just minutes before their last pick-up. This time, I didn’t have to chase the driver down the street or cry, so I think I’m improving.  Everything is with Andover Fabrics, and now it’s time to wait.

In the meantime, I have been getting some really sweet notes from friends who have started getting their copies of Handmade Hostess in the mail. It is hard to believe it, but the book is really out there! I have been busy working on book promotion stuff — writing magazine editors, connecting with bloggers, trying to set up some fun workshops and events. I will be honest and tell you that this part is really hard. I am pretty sure the only people who like promoting stuff already have jobs in marketing and PR!

(By the way, if you read the book and would like to help me out, I would love it if you’d write the first review on Amazon!)

I am doing something crazy and taking next week off. Saturday is my birthday, and we are going to celebrate with a little down time. I hope to come back here refreshed and ready for whatever’s next.

Until I get back, here are a few articles I’ve written elsewhere:

I hope you have a wonderful week. Stay well!
