Thank you for the kind words about the move!
Here’s a picture of the house. I don’t know if you can tell from this photo, but it was built in the 1980′s. Since we spent so many years house-hunting in LA looking at 50′s-built bungalows, the 80′s feel very fresh and modern to us. All that brass and wood trim. How very clever of them!
It is a nice house, but we have a lot of work to do before we can move in. (A new roof and correcting some drainage issues to start…) The truth is we have probably watched too much HGTV and bitten off more than we can chew. However, you might want to wait a little while before you point that out. It’s still new, and after a weekend scrubbing on our hands and knees, we might be a little bit sensitive.
I totally cheated on that last post and used a photo of some moving boxes from a previous move. (I know, I know. I’m sorry.) The reality is that we have not started packing anything. We are still on part 1: cleaning. (And to be honest, I think we may be on part 1 for awhile.)
It is all very exciting though. The house is full of spiders, so that keeps it extra exciting. We won’t need any Halloween decorations this year. The house came with plenty!
So tell me: how many couples do you think HGTV has sent to counseling? They make it all look so easy!

Care to comment? Go for it. Be bold. Do it! But niceness counts, right?
What a beautiful house!! Love the windows!
Wow, what a great house. Now you two can get busy filling it up with littles ;)
Beautiful home, congratulations! So much space, I am envious!
Beautiful! All of those angles and windows are wonderful, I’m not to crazy about the spiders though.
Congrats!! I think it looks really sweet and I’m sure you’ll get a *lot* of good stories out of it! =)
It’s so cute, and I love the shape of it!!! Hoping to break out of my ‘cookie cutter’ home in the next couple of years ;)
I am so excited for you guys just looking at your beautiful new house. (I’m also feeling just a tinge of jealousy, haahaa). Love the garage space, love all the windows and hooray that you do not have other houses five feet from your house! I can’t imagine how excited you are…except for the whole cleaning exhaustion bit. Hang in there. You can do it! I’d be other there with my gloves on to help if I could.
Looking forward to seeing what you do with the place.
Beautiful it is. Very happy for you. How is it that no one has commented on THE 3 CAR GARAGE. I can imagine the shelves, work benches and power tools that you can house in there. Not to mention the garden tools for the topiary and garden maze. Oops, kalanicut did mention the garage. Never mind.
WHOA! Such a huge house! I bet you’re excited to move past the prep stages and just move the heck in . Alas. I guess all the work will make the ultimate move that much sweeter :) Good luck and congrats!!!!!
PS: I think the couples that watch HGTV from home are the ones who end up in counseling ;) Too many instances of HONEY, LOOK WHAT HGTV DID! can be caused by the shows!
