Baby Panda

This weekend, we headed down to the San Diego Zoo where we met up with this little baby.

He was taking a nap in a cute little hammock.  The pandas are so popular and sensitive to noise that you have to line up to enter their viewing area, and everyone is reminded to be quiet.  Between the near-silence and the shady bamboo enclosure, it makes for one of the most peaceful areas of the zoo.

And I’ll just tell you that on the crazy up-hill hike my sister had us on, we may have needed that.  ;-)  It’s always nice to go with a guide.  My husband and I have a tendency to just wander around nomad-like while I steal secretive glances at the map to make sure we’re not completely lost.  However, it was fun to hit the newer highlights including the Elephant Odyssey and the brand new Polar Bear Plunge.  At some point, my 4 year old nephew caught on and started trying to get us to go to the “brand-new crocodile exhibit.”  You have to give him credit for his clever marketing tactics, but we didn’t fall for it.  Those crocs were a bazillion miles away, and by that point, several of us could hardly move.  Next time, definitely.
