Alice in Wonderland

This past weekend, we saw Alice in Wonderland as a birthday treat with friends.  Ever since, I’ve had Alice on the brain.  For me, that movie was all about the Mad Hatter and Alice’s costumes.  I especially love the tiny dress the Mad Hatter makes for her.

I just love that ribbon bodice and over-sized flower!

This past weekend, there were lots of fashion articles about the movie and I decided to round up some links for any fellow Alice fans.  I also decided to try out one of the Alice in Wonderland printable activities from the Disney site.  The photos from yesterday are all from this Alice in Wonderland shadow box.

Although I think it turned out very cute, I have to say this was a lot more work than I thought I was signing up for.  This would definitely be a better project for older children who have a lot of patience and scissor skills.  It’s hard to tell from the pictures, but the stage is designed on a slant, so there are some funny folding steps that I think could have been skipped.  I do think it’s very clever how the whole thing closes up into a little treasure box (see below).

More Alice fun (and fashion/shopping) around the web:

With all this inspiration, I should have plenty to write about in my Dream Journal (a very thoughtful b-day present indeed).

  1. Oooh, love that Sue Wong link! Have you seen OPI’s Alice-inspired collection? http://www.opi.com/ I think I might be too old for Absolutely Alice and Mad as a Hatter, but Off With Her Red! seems promising especially as I’m ready to break out my sandals.

Oh, good catch! I completely missed these. I hear you on the glitter, but the reds look cute. I wonder if these are at Sephora.

You are very welcome! :) It was wonderful to hang out with you and see that fabulous movie! Do you remember the quote from the White Queen? Something like…”You can’t live to please others, because when you face the jabberwocky, you face him alone.” If you find the quote, let me know! I’ve searched, but can’t find it. I just might have to wait until the dvd, so I can listen to it again. :)
