So many things. So many things start with the letter S. I had to cut this down quite a bit just to make it all fit. Without further ado, here are 4 things I love.
S is for Squirrels
You probably guessed this one, huh? Maybe the banner was a clue? I have a thing for squirrels. They are so cheeky and yet sometimes graceful. This squirrel tray (above) is from iBride, and it was a birthday present to myself one year. (I got mine from Velocity Art and Design.) It hung on the wall in my office and is waiting for it’s new home in the studio.
These are my squirrel place card holders (purchased at the Squirrel Store). To tell you the truth, I think this was another birthday present to myself (hmm… that’s kind of weird). I hinted at these several times, and then realized that I had to take matters into my own hands. Oh, the things my family puts up with…
S is for Stickers
I have been collecting stickers since I was 5 (maybe even before then). Somehow that just never went away. The only thing that changed is they moved the stickers over to the scrapbook section and gave us more plastic organizers to store them in. At Michaels’, they try to tempt you by putting the stickers in the front of the store where you have to walk by them to even get in the door. This is just setting me up for failure. I can’t buy a pipe cleaner without some stickers coming home with me.
- My favorites: Making Memories Design Shop, Cosmo Cricket, Sassafras Lass, October Afternoon
- Where I buy stickers: Scrapbook Oasis (in Irvine), and Stop and Scrap (online)
S is for Scissors
If you sew, then you know what a luxury having nice scissors can be. This little pair was a gift from my parents, and they make me smile every time I take them out to use them. I have a pair of gold handled dressmaker’s shears, too. I think this is the perfect treat for a seamstress (or maybe just for yourself). Fabrics come and go, but scissors are there through every project.
S is for Susan Branch
My sister introduced me to Susan Branch’s Christmas From the Heart of the Home book, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Her style is a little sweeter than mine, but her writing and recipes are timeless. These are my “go to” books every time I have company coming. She cares about details and presentation and making everyone feel welcome. It doesn’t hurt that every recipe I’ve tried has been a winner. (Hello, cinnamon ice cream – I love you.)
Well, that wraps up S for today. Maybe you caught some I missed?

Care to comment? Go for it. Be bold. Do it! But niceness counts, right?
