My State of the Union

Gold_fabric

I’ll be back next week with some more letters of the alphabet, but I’m taking a little breather today.

True confession: One of the realities about being self-employed is that Friday loses some of its TGIF appeal.  Friday shows up, and I think to myself: already?  I’m a motivated person, but I find it hard to stick to personal deadlines – especially when there is creativity involved.  I want the work to be done, but it also needs to be right.  I have my game face on these days.  The pages of the calendar are tearing off so fast.

However, the good news is that I am working on a secret something I really, really love.  I have a huge heap of shimmering, silky fabrics next to my sewing machine (yes, the ones that slip and slide all over the place and mess up your machine’s tension if you’re not careful).  This is one of those projects where you are not sure how to reply when the lady at JoAnn’s says “what are you making?”  I find myself thinking “maybe I should just lie because I don’t think she’ll believe me if I tell her.”

One day I hope to tell you, too.
