A Pause

Hope

Last night as I was watching the news, I realized I had not mentioned some very important H’s – hope, and Haiti.

Like many, I am at a loss for words.  Mostly, I feel woefully uneducated about the Haitian people and the nightmare they are living through.  I saw the Oprah special yesterday with Wyclef Jean which I think only underscored how narrow our view is into this situation.

As we all consider how to help and what to pray for, I find some comfort in this quote from Mother Theresa (who I think had a better view than most on how to keep going in the face of widespread tragedy) :

“Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired.” — Mother Teresa

I think that is what I will pray for today.
