(Ottoman from Brocade Home)
I just got back from JoAnn Fabric’s where I was deadlocked in a wrestling match with several five foot long pieces of upholstery foam. Sure, I may have knocked over a few items. Ok, fine. A few dozen items. And yes, I do think at one point I needed assistance from every single employee in the store. However, I’m going to call it a win, because I made it out alive and no one was maimed (that I know of).
We have decided to go the DIY upholstered headboard route. I nearly fell off my chair when my husband ok’d this plan since I’ve been obsessed with tufted furniture for a long time. (This is probably a sign it’s about to go out of style, huh? If it is, don’t tell me.) That ottoman above from Brocade Home is my ultimate fantasy furniture piece. I was pretty certain tufted headboards weren’t in the “Switzerland” area of our decorating plan. However, my husband was open to it if we used brushed nickel buttons (sure, why not?). We found some homasote board (lighter-weight than ply), and the mounting brackets mentioned in this post at Apartment Therapy. He probably thinks I’m a very efficient person, but the truth is that I have not wasted any time moving this plan into action just in case he changed his mind.
I will report back after I finish battling it out with the foam. You might give me a week or two since we’ve got some wall painting scheduled in there as well. Two words for you: decorating rampage. Look out or you might get tackled by giant foam. That stuff has a life of its own.

Care to comment? Go for it. Be bold. Do it! But niceness counts, right?
