Fall Leaf Wreath

FallWreath

My walk in the woods this weekend gave me the push I needed to make something that has been on my crafting wish list for a while – a new Fall wreath.  I wanted something super simple and unfussy that could take me all the way through Thanksgiving.   I’ve had these golden leaves in my stash for a long time and was excited to finally find a place to use them.

(I think you can see I still have some hot glue gun strands to clean off…  I’d also like to hang the wreath from a loop of ribbon instead of letting it sit on the wreath hanger directly.

My husband gave me his ultimate stamp of approval: “I don’t mind it.”  Oh, the praise he lavishes on my holiday craft projects!

Total time to complete this project: one hour while watching Interview with a Vampire.

This was incredibly inexpensive to do.  I bought a strand of garland from Michael’s when it was 50% off and snipped the leaves right off of that.  They do have lots of packages of leaves if you care to skip that step.  However, there’s more variety in the garland section if you’re picky.

I used a wire wreath form because I wanted something very flat.  I also wonder what the most eco-friendly choice would be for wreath forms.  (If you know, please share!)   I wrapped dark brown ribbon around the wire so I had something to adhere all the leaves to, and then just hot glued away.

Anyone else adding to their Fall decorations this year?

Well happy weekend, everyone!  I’m heading out today to help set up a magical fairy birthday party.  I think there is an enchanted tree trunk involved.  You can bet I’ll be sharing details on that.

  1. So cute! And inspiring– I’m going to Michael’s this week and finally going to make one. It might not look as good as yours but at least I’ll have one- finally! BTW- I like the white door :)

  2. So pretty and very “clean lined” and modern too! Fall decor here is just mainly a door wreath and the usual porch scarecrow/pumpkins/mums.
