The Purple Couch

We are all moved in now and loving our new place.  With Quilt Market around the corner, there isn’t much time to settle in and unpack.  I’m saving the real organization for when I get home.

Between the days spent painting and lifting boxes, I really need to stretch!  I feel even worse for my husband and dad who moved all the heavy stuff themselves.  The hardest item turned out to be the giant purple couch. (Sorry, guys!)  It’s getting replaced with a more husband-friendly color, but we needed to keep it for the next month or two until the new one arrives.  That thing barely fit out the door of our older apartment.  In fact, when we went back to clean, there was some purple velvet stuck to the door frame.

This couch was my first furniture purchase when I moved out of my parent’s house, so I admit that I have some sentimental attachment to it.  My husband does not and refers to this couch as “Grimace.”  However, now that I am seeing it in its new environment, I’m ready to move on.  This purple color does not go with our “Antique Earth” walls.  Plus, I keep thinking that the new couch (white) will really show off pillows I want to make from some of my Spoonflower fabrics.

Ok, back to painting.  I’m not supposed to be thinking about home decorating right now.

I am also thinking I should probably upgrade my paint brush.

My eyeliner brush was the only thing I could find that was the right size.  Sort of like painting with a toothpick.  Call me crazy.

    Hi Kelly,

I’ve been looking for a purple couch, and Googled and Binged for images. Yours came up. It’s GORGEOUS! Just curious – where did you get it? (I live in western MA, by the way).

Thanks, and all the best to you.

  2. Purple really won’t fit in earth toned colors. But, your couch really looks great and I like it so much.

I can’t believe you actually managed to get that huge heavy couch up over your balcony! I hope you never have to move. ;-) So glad to see it went to a nice, happy home.
